The Xperia Togari will officially be known as the Xperia ZU, short for “Xperia Z Ultra”. The ZU is the Sony’s first entry into the Phablet market. It is said to be announced as soon as June 25th, and could be in shelves as early as July.
The Xperia ZU is reported to be packing a 6.44″ 1080p FullHD Triluminous display with 342ppi pixel density. It will come with an X-Reality Engine, an upgrade to the company’s Bravia Engine 2 found in previous hi-end smartphone outings. The ZU will also come with the new Snapdragon 800 chipset from Qualcomm with a 2.3 GHz Quad-core CPU. Contrary to earlier reports, the ZU will sport an 8MP rear camera sensor instead of a 13MP one due to a shortage in supply of camera parts. All these are fitted in a body that will only be 6.5mm thick!
The oversized handset will also feature Sony’s Omnibalance design, touting smooth curved corners and a beautiful balance in design from any angle. Lastly, the ZU will also bear an IP58 certification hence, will be dustproof and water resistant for up to 1 meter for a max of 30minutes.
